Over the years my passion for literacy developed through working with students who struggled with learning to read and write. Realizing that the traditional methods of instruction were not always successful. The need to help my students inspired me to continue learning about literacy instruction and creative teaching practices.

Serving as my division's Literacy Champion for the past 12 years has allowed me to gain experience and knowledge. The valuable collaboration with fellow educators, professional learning opportunities all have deepened my understanding of evidence-informed literacy instruction.

More recently, I have recognized the growing need to support English language learners in our classrooms. As schools welcome increasingly diverse student populations, educators need practical strategies that foster both literacy development and creativity.

I have continued my learning journey and received my Graduate Certification in Educational Leadership and am currently completing my Professional Master of Education, through Queen’s University. The focus of my Master of Education is literacy education. Throughout my graduate studies, I have explored current research on literacy development, creativity, innovation, and inclusive teaching practices. These experiences inspired me to create this website as a way to bridge educational research with practical classroom strategies that educators can immediately implement to support English language learners.
